I’m Maddie! I’m a multi-media artist primarily working with oil paint and ceramics. Read more about my work and check out my CV here.
Where are you based?
I am currently located on Cape Cod in Massachusetts after living in Denver, Colorado for the past 17 years. However, I am fortunate to be able to sell to collectors all over the world (shout out New Zealand— the furthest my art has traveled!)

Purchasing Artwork
How do I purchase artwork?
Most of my available work is listed in my online store here. However, if you’ve seen a piece you like and it’s not listed on my website, just ask! Sometimes I hold pieces back for shows or other various reasons.
Do you offer payment plans?
I have offered payment plans on larger pieces in the past and am happy to discuss what that could look like.
Can I reserve a piece?
You may! Because I share a lot of works in progress on social media, sometimes I’m asked if a piece can be purchased once finished. How that typically works is: I’ll finish it and shoot you a message before listing on my website. You have 48 hours to respond and complete the purchase to secure your new piece. If I don’t hear from you, or you decide you no longer want the piece, I’ll list it on my website for the masses.

How much do commissions cost?
Pricing depends on medium, size, complexity, materials, and the timeline. Large, complex pieces take more time than small paintings. Pieces you need in 3 weeks cost more than ones you need in 3 months. For commissioned paintings, I charge $4 per square inch. So, a 10” x 10” painting would cost $400. For my ceramic work, it depends on the size and complexity. Custom mugs, bowls, and plates are between $75 – $100. Larger, custom vases start around $300. If there’s something you’re dying to have, just shoot me an email and let’s chat! I would absolutely love to make something special just for you.
How long does a commission take?
Schedules vary based on the complexity, size, and (for ceramics) kiln schedule. However, most work is completed and ready to ship within 4-6 weeks.
Do I need to pay a deposit?
Yes! I require a 50% non-refundable deposit up front. The remaining 50% is due once the piece finished, approved, and ready to ship.
Can I request changes?
Of COURSE! Once you pay your deposit, I’ll get to work on some ideas. This is where we really hammer out the details. Once I present the initial sketch, the ball is in your court to approve or make changes up to three times. Once it’s approved, I’ll get to work and send you progress pics along the way.
Can you recreate artwork from another artist?
I can’t and won’t. However, I’d love to hear what you like about it (the earthy tones, the scribbly lines, etc) so I can bring something new into the world that you’ll love!
Shipping
Do you ship internationally?
Yes! I will ship to every single country. The only catch is I only offer free shipping within the U.S. Outside of the U.S., you’ll have to cover the shipping costs. However, I will work with all the shipping companies to find the best deal for you and make it as easy as humanly possible for you to purchase a piece you love.
How long does shipping take?
I ship out all orders within 3-5 days. You’ll receive an e-mail with your tracking number as soon as it’s out the door. From there, it takes on average additional 2-5 days for delivery. International shipments will take a bit longer. Need something ASAP? Let me know and I’ll make it happen!
Are orders insured?
ALL shipments are insured for their full purchase price. Items over $150 require a signature.
Copyright and Licensing
Can I share your work on my social media?
I would love that! Please make sure to tag me on IG at @maddiemadrigalart or on Bluesky at madrigal.bsky.social.
Can I use your artwork commercially?
Absolutely. However, commercial use requires a licensing agreement. It’s a quick and easy process— just send me an e-mail and let me know which work you’d like to use, its intended purpose, and any image formatting requirements.
Do I own the copyright if I buy the art?
No. Purchasing art transfers ownership only of the physical piece, not the copyright.

Do you participate in exhibitions or art fairs?

Painting FAQs
Is your work archival?
I do my best to create work using professional, archival-quality materials. Whenever possible, I use lightfast pigments, acid-free supports, and conservation-grade materials to help ensure each piece remains stable over time. My ceramic work is fired to maturity using durable clay bodies and glazes appropriate for their intended use.
While no artwork is completely immune to the effects of time or environmental conditions, proper care and display will help preserve your piece for generations.
Are prints signed?
Yes! All prints are hand signed and (when applicable) numbered.
How should I care for my artwork?
I recommend keeping artwork out of direct sunlight and away from excessive heat, humidity, or moisture to maintain its best condition.
What documentation do I receive with original art?
Every original artwork I create is accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity. Each certificate verifies that the piece is an original work created by me and includes details such as the title, medium, dimensions, and date of creation. It’s intended to provide collectors with a permanent record of the artwork’s authenticity and provenance.
Ceramic FAQs
Are your ceramic pieces food safe?
Oh yeah! All dishware (mugs, cups, bowls, plates) are food safe— lead-free glazes, fully vitrified clay, and sealed surfaces. Occasionally, I will make a decorative piece (like a vase) using non-food safe glazes. All that means is it’s still safe to handle and be around, but wouldn’t be suitable for constant contact with acidic foods or constant washing.
Do items need to be hand washed or can I put them in the dishwasher?
All dishware (mugs, cups, bowls, plates) are dishwasher safe.
Is everything microwave safe?
Items with gold or silver lustre are NOT microwave safe. I will include a warning in the item description if a piece has gold or silver in it. All other dishware can safely be chucked in the microwave AND the oven.
